Residency and Fellowship Program Update

The UMMC Dermatology Residency Program currently boasts 12 residents in training in the PGY-2 through -4 years with five PGY-1s joining us next year. In addition, we currently have a Mohs fellow as well as a dermatopathology fellow in training. Our seventh class of residency graduates finished in June 2022, and we were grateful to have our first formal in-person graduation post Covid-19.

We are also happy to again report that all of our recently graduated residents have passed their Dermatology Boards and that the program is performing in the upper quartile of all residency programs in the country!

Dr. Jordan Ivey relocated to Huntsville, AL and joined Southeastern Skin Cancer and Dermatology, a physician-owned private practice. She provides the full range of dermatological care including medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Ivey and her husband, Ross, have an 8 month old son named Sam. They are enjoying being closer to family in Alabama. In the fall, they frequently spend the weekends in Auburn, AL for the football festivities.

Dr. Pearlman is currently completing a combined American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) Cosmetic and Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship at Northwestern Feinberg Department of Dermatology under the direction of Dr. Murad Alam in Chicago, IL.  Outside of clinic, he is involved in research, innovation projects, and advocacy on behalf dermatology patients. He enjoys backpacking, fishing, paddling, and skiing in his free time.

Dr. Alex Noble has remained at UMMC after completing her dermatology residency, and serving as Chief Resident, to complete a Dermatopathology fellowship. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Nick, and daughter, Elizabeth. She especially loves going on family walks with their 16-year-old poodle, Pepper.

In addition, our fourth Mohs Fellow also finished in June 2022. Dr. Caroline Doo has relocated to Northern California and will be joining Peninsula Dermatologic Surgery where she will be practicing dermatology with a focus on Mohs surgery. While she misses her colleagues and patients in Mississippi, she is excited to be back close to her family. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones and traveling. She and her husband spent the last few months exploring South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and New Zealand.

At our 2022 graduation ceremony, the following awards were given. We are proud of each recipient’s accomplishments and again thank them for their excellent work!
